Activities
There are lots of things to do in and around Cordes Sur Ciel:
· You simply MUST walk up to the top of the village, the Haute Ville, to see the cobbled streets and wonderful mediaeval buildings. Lovely views from the top too.
· Visit a vineyard. Better still, visit several and choose a favourite!
· Enjoy a nice lunch or evening meal in one of the many restaurants and bars. The owners can recommend a few!
· Go canoeing on the river at St Antonin - one of the owners' favourite days out in the summer. Great fun and not too expensive!
· Play tennis, go walking, horse-riding, cycling and mountain biking.
· Enjoy a day in Albi – a lovely cathedral city. A great fountain in the pavement in the main square of Albi, somewhere for the children to run in between the fountain jets and try to avoid getting too wet!, while Mum and Dad enjoy a leisurely drink at a nearby restaurant/bar.
· See Gaillac and its lovely old abbey and river walk.
· See one of the local markets:
Gaillac – Every Friday – large
Cordes – Lower village every Saturday – small but fun
St Antonin – Every Sunday – sprawling and busy.
· Chill out by our stunning swimming pool. Great for the children.
Further afield:
· Visit Toulouse – well worth a day out. Shopping and the river to walk alongside. About 50 minutes by car or a local train.
· See the Tarn Gorges and the Millau Bridge, 90 mins away. Spectacular.
· Spend a day in famous Carcassonne, a stunning mediaeval village south east of Toulouse. About 2 hours away by car.
· Walk along the bank of the Canal du Midi at Castelnaudray and enjoy a canalside lunch. Popular.
· Go to Sete and enjoy a stunning 7km beach (our favourite) – about 3 hours away.
· Explore the Pyrenees, not as far away as you might think. About 2.5 hours travelling.
· There is a watersport and activity centre on the Rodez road, about half an hour away. A bit under-developed and not cheap, but may be worth a look-in.
